Inspired by the refinement of raw textiles into finished form, Greige Goods Studio specializes in creating bespoke hospitality interiors, thoughtfully tailored to each project. Based in the small beach-side community of Hermosa Beach, California, our work is no doubt influenced by the ocean breezes and natural light that flood our studio. The studio's growth since its inception in 2019 has been fostered by the continued trust of long-term clients and referrals. Led by our founding principal, Jodi Barnett, our studio values are rooted in a culture that prioritizes collaboration, client satisfaction and personal growth.

Meet our Founder

Jodi Barnett
FOUNDING Principle | Creative Director

With more than two decades of experience in hospitality design, Jodi brings a depth of knowledge shaped by years of hands-on involvement in every stage of the design process.

After earning a BA in Family Studies, Jodi began her career in retail visual merchandising. During a pivotal stay at Miami’s Delano Hotel in 1998, she discovered the transformative power of hospitality design—and knew she wanted to design hotels for a living. She returned to school to study Interior Design at UCLA Extension and began her design career as an intern and design assistant at Hirsch Bedner Associates. She went on to hold positions at Design 360 Unlimited, Bergman Walls & Associates and Clear on Black before founding Greige Goods Studio in 2019.

As Founding Principal and Creative Director, Jodi remains actively involved throughout each project. She leads the studio’s creative direction and collaborates closely with the design team, clients and project partners to preserve the design intent while supporting budget, schedule and operational goals.

Outside the studio, Jodi enjoys cooking for family & friends, discovering new and notable restaurants around Los Angeles and traveling.

Our process

1. Discovery

We begin every project by taking a deep dive into what we call “the discovery phase”. During this discovery, we focus on learning about our client, the brand, the location of the property, the guests that use the space, the operational requirements, the project schedule and, of course, the all-important budget! The information gathered in this phase becomes the guiding principles of our entire design process and informs every decision made through the length of the project. 

2. Design Development

Building on the foundation established during Discovery, we translate our research into a bespoke creative concept and bring the design into sharper focus. Space planning, furniture layouts, millwork concepts, FF&E and material selections are developed and refined to create a cohesive environment tailored to the brand, the guest experience and the way the space will be used. Throughout this process, we collaborate closely with the project team to align the creative vision with the project’s operational, technical and budgetary goals.

3. Execution

Good design establishes the vision; thorough documentation brings it to life. Greige Goods Studio develops detailed, coordinated documentation that gives contractors and manufacturers the information they need to accurately price, fabricate and construct each element of the project. This level of clarity helps protect the design intent to reduce uncertainty during construction and support the project’s schedule and budget. 

4. CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION

Once the project is designed and documented,  Greige Goods Studio will carry the vision through the processes of construction, installation and final punch. We remain actively involved throughout this phase, collaborating with the project team to answer questions, review submittals and shop drawings, conduct site observations and address design-related issues as they arise. Our continued oversight helps preserve the integrity of the design and ensures the finished environment reflects the original vision.
